Gochang County Government Football Team Wins Jeonbuk Governor’s Workplace Football Tournament

The Gochang County Government football team (headed by Gochang County Deputy Governor Noh Hyung-soo) has won the 42nd Jeollabuk-do Governor’s Workplace Football Tournament, defeating some of the strongest teams in the province.

Organised by the Jeollabuk-do Football Federation, the tournament is the province’s premier competition to promote health and harmony among workplace colleagues, and was held in the Challenger League and Specialty League.

At the tournament, which was held in Namwon City, Jeollabuk-do from 8-9 August, Gochang County Government participated in the special league with 15 teams, and after passing the preliminary league, the team defeated the Fire and Rescue Headquarters (quarterfinals) and the Jeonbuk National Police Agency (quarterfinals) to reach the final.

The Gochang County Office won the final against the Korea Rural Development Corporation in a penalty shootout, avenging last year’s runner-up finish and winning the tournament for the second time after winning the title in 2015.

The Gochang County Office team has been participating in various competitions to promote the development of Gochang County in preparation for the 2023 World Heritage City Visit Year.

In particular, the team participated in the Asia-Pacific Masters International Football Tournament held in Jeollabuk-do in May, where they finished as runners-up, but also achieved results in promoting Gochang County at international tournaments where people from all over the world come together.

Gochang County Mayor Shim Deok-seop encouraged them, saying, “I am proud and grateful for the employees who have achieved the two goals of promoting Gochang County and winning the tournament through club activities even while they are busy,” and asked them to play a pivotal role in the development of the region based on the atmosphere of enthusiasm and passion of winning football 먹튀검증.”
