After 8 seasons at Shinhan Bank, he played 6 seasons at Yongin Samsung Life Insurance. Choi Hee-jin, who was subject to the second round of free agent (FA), decided to retire. He was announced as retired in the list of results of the second round of free agency negotiations announced by WKBL on the 20th. He has played 390 games since the 2007 winter season so far, averaging 14 minutes and 36 seconds, averaging 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds. His last season was averaging 15 minutes and 14 seconds, playing in all games, and compiling 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds.

Choi Hee-jin said, “I don’t know what to say (laughs). He played a lot of games at KB Stars, won runner-up, and won the championship on his own. So he thought there was no time limit. Although he has some regrets, he did not have the heart to go to another team and work passionately because he was a free agent. He explained the reason for his retirement, saying, “I thought it wouldn’t be bad to decorate the end in a team where I put my body and worked hard.”

When asked if he had a lot of trouble making his decision to retire, Choi Hee-jin said, “It didn’t take long. he thought adamantly. There are many young friends, so I don’t think there will be many days to play in the future. I think it would be better to stop now than to spend a year or two like that. There was no club as good as KB Stars. I really wanted to finish here because I received a lot of care.”

Choi Hee-jin won six combined championships during the ‘Real Shinhan’ era, which lasted from the 2007-2008 season to the 2011-2012 season. But he didn’t spend much time on the court. He averaged 10 minutes and 17 seconds in the season he played most. On the other hand, his combined victory in the 2021-2022 season with KB Stars was different. He averaged 8.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 27 minutes and 33 seconds in 19 games.

When asked about his most memorable moment, Choi Hee-jin said, “He won Shinhan Bank 6 times, but there was no contribution. He is most memorable when he won the 2020-2021 season at KB Stars. He didn’t score a single point during the 3rd game, but at the end (Sim) Seong-young received a pass and shot from the corner. The last shot and the ceremony are memorable.”

Regarding his plan after his retirement, “No plan is a plan (laughs). I want to rest at home without thinking about anything. I want to spend a lot of time with my family,” he said.
