LG’s Lee Sang-young to return to Samsung Electronics’ first team on Thursday

LG Twins outfielder Lee Sang-young is returning to the team after completing his military service with the Commerce Baseball Organization and will enter the starting rotation upon his discharge.
LG, led by head coach Yoon Kyung-yup, will open the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Hanwha Eagles at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on Sept. 9. Ahead of the game, LG canceled the first-team rosters of pitchers Kim Yun-sik and Lee Ji-gang and added Chae Ji-sun and Kim Dong-gyu to the roster. Kim Dong-gyu, a rookie this year, received his first call-up. 메이저사이트
Kim Yun-sik had made a start the previous day against the Gochuk Kiwoom on the 8th, but it was a poor performance in both content and outcome, as he gave up seven runs on 12 hits in five innings. He has lost his last three games in a row. LG decided to use Lee Sang-young, who will be retiring on the 12th, in Kim’s place.
Lee has been a regular in the starting rotation for the Commerce since last year, and was so good in the Futures League this year that he won eight straight games in nine appearances. The streak came to an end when he took the loss against the KIA on July 7, but his performance wasn’t bad as he allowed three runs in five innings with eight strikeouts. His ERA in nine games and 51⅓ innings is 2.63.
Next up for Kim is Jamsil’s turn against Samsung Electronics on April 14. On that day, Lee Sang-young will make his first-team return. It will be exactly one week since his last appearance in the Futures League. Manager Yoon Kyung-yup said, “Yoon-sik’s back is not perfect, so it was a good time for him to rest. He’ll have one back injection, and he’ll have to do some preparation. Lee Sang-young will continue to pitch in the rotation.”
