Newcastle United are looking to sign Victor Osimhen.
According to a report in Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport on Feb. 2 (ET), Newcastle have made contact with Osimhen’s agent, with a potential transfer fee of at least £130 million.
Newcastle finished fourth in the 2022-2023 English Premier League (EPL) and qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season after a Saudi capital takeover. With prize money and broadcasting rights, the club naturally has more money to spend.
Since Eddie Howe’s arrival at Newcastle, the Magpies have been able to bring in the right resources at the right time without spending too much money in the transfer market. However, given Osimhen’s age – he’s still only 24 – it’s more important than ever to secure a striker who can lead the team for years to come.
Manchester United were initially targeting Osimhen, but the deal has stalled even after the Glazer family announced their intention to sell. They’re struggling to make any solid additions until a new owner arrives.
