The Dodgers defeated the Houston Astros, 8-7, on Friday (May 25) at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.
The Dodgers, who had won three straight, jumped out to an early lead. In the bottom of the first inning, Will Smith hit a solo home run over the left field wall, J.D. Martinez drew a walk, and Jason Heyward followed with a two-run shot over the right field wall.
Rookie right-hander Bobby Miller 스포츠토토 threw a 100-plus mile-per-hour sinker to keep the game scoreless through two innings.
In the top of the third, Miller gave up a leadoff double to Jagged Meyers and an RBI single to Jose Altuve. Miller got out of the inning without allowing another run, and he was good through the fourth.
In the fifth, Miller broke down. He threw a slider, gave up a hit, and then a walk when his curveball and sinker failed.
With runners on first and second, he gave up an infield single to Altuve to load the bases and a five-pitch, 98.3-mph sinker high and away to Alex Bregman for a walk-off home run.
Miller was pulled after allowing the extra base hit.
The Dodgers added one more run in the sixth. The offense didn’t score another run until the sixth inning. Then, in the top of the seventh, David Peralta hit a two-run homer with one out. The score was 5-7.
In the eighth inning, the tide turned. The Houston bullpen was shaky. Freddie Freeman, Smith, and Martinez drew consecutive walks to load the bases.
Heyward hit a sacrifice fly and James Outman followed with a tying double. Peralta struck out swinging and a walk made it an 8-7 game.
The Dodgers brought up Evan Phillips in the ninth to preserve the one-run victory. The Dodgers have now won four straight games dating back to April 21 against the Angels.
